The latest storm and low pressure news on the morning of January 20th from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Agency (PAGASA) said that a new low pressure area 01c has formed in the east of the Philippines.
This low pressure area is about 2,260km east of southeastern Mindanao.
According to Philippine weather forecasters, the new low pressure is unlikely to strengthen into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, tropical depression Ada is about 780km east of Tuguegarao city, Cagayan, Philippines. This tropical depression is having winds of 55 km/h, gusts of 70 km/h. Ada is moving northeast at a speed of 10 km/h.
According to Philippine forecasters, this system is shrinking and no longer causing rain to the mainland Philippines. It is forecast that Ada will maintain a tropical depression status on January 20 and gradually weaken into a low pressure area on January 21. However, forecasters do not rule out the possibility of weakening sooner.
According to PAGASA, dry air from the northeast monsoon continuously intrudes, causing Ada to gradually weaken. The northeast monsoon is affecting the Ilocos region, the administrative region of Cordillera and Cagayan Valley.
The Metro Manila area and the rest of the Philippines are forecast to be cloudy, with scattered showers, and expected to have thunderstorms in the next 24 hours.
