Typhoon Yinxing heads straight for the East Sea, 2 low pressure systems are on the way

A new low pressure system near the Philippines that is likely to strengthen into a storm has emerged as Typhoon Yinxing enters the South China Sea.

The latest storm and low pressure forecast on November 4 by the Philippine weather agency PAGASA said that as soon as storm Yinxing entered the East Sea, two low pressure areas continuously formed near the Philippines, one of which has the potential to strengthen into a storm.

The bulletin stated that during the week of November 4-10, Typhoon Yinxing (local name Marce) was active in the area near the Philippines. The storm is forecast to further strengthen, approaching Northern Luzon and possibly making landfall in the northern Philippines before entering the East Sea.

Also during this period, a new tropical depression is likely to form right after Typhoon Yinxing. It is forecast to form at the western boundary of PAGASA’s PMD forecast area. The new depression near the Philippines is likely to intensify into a low to moderate storm, according to Philippine typhoon forecasters.

PAGASA also said that during the week of November 11-17, Typhoon Yinxing is expected to continue moving westward into the Philippine Sea. PAGASA forecasts that Typhoon Yinxing will remain mostly stationary before weakening and dissipating over the South China Sea.

Meanwhile, the tropical depression that formed on November 4-10 will enter the Philippine PAR forecast area between November 11 and 17 and approach the eastern part of Luzon. The depression near the Philippines right after Typhoon Yinxing is expected to turn towards Japan, with the possibility of strengthening into a low to moderate typhoon.

Also this week, another new low pressure area formed east of the PAGASA PMD forecast area boundary. This second low pressure area is forecast to have little chance of strengthening into a storm.

According to the latest storm information on November 4 from the US Navy's Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), Typhoon Yinxing is 1,145 km east of Manila, Philippines. The storm has been moving west-northwest at a speed of 33 km/h for the past 6 hours. The latest storm to form near the Philippines has winds of 100 km/h. JTWC predicts that Yinxing will strengthen into a typhoon on November 5.

Meanwhile, the latest storm information at 11:00 a.m. on November 4 from PAGASA said that Typhoon Yinxing has just strengthened slightly as it moves west-northwest over the Philippine Sea. PAGASA forecasters said the storm will maintain this direction until November 5, when it will turn west and slow down over the Philippine Sea in the eastern part of Northern Luzon.

According to the forecast track of Typhoon Yinxing released by PAGASA, the storm is expected to make landfall in the vicinity of Babuyan Island or north of Cagayan on the evening of November 7 or the morning of November 8. Due to the uncertainty about the intensity of the high pressure area north of Typhoon Yinxing, the forecast track of the storm is still subject to unpredictable changes, causing the storm's landfall point to shift to the Cagayan-Isabela region of the Philippines.

“Typhoon Yinxing is forecast to gradually strengthen and may become a strong tropical storm by November 5. It is forecasted that the storm may strengthen into a typhoon by the evening of November 5 or the morning of November 6. The storm may also strengthen rapidly,” PAGASA’s latest storm bulletin stated.
