The latest storm and low pressure information from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on December 23 said that most of the Philippines is forecast to have quite favorable weather on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
PAGASA weather forecaster Daniel James E. Villamil said that weather conditions in the Visayas region are expected to improve from December 23 as the rainfall caused by the easterly winds tends to decrease.
During the same period, the impact of other weather systems such as the northeast monsoon and wind shear is also forecast to weaken.
The rain is forecast to continue to decrease from December 24 to December 25, only appearing scattered in the afternoon or evening in some places.
In general, on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, most areas across the Philippines will have quite nice weather, Villamil said.
The Philippine weather forecaster confirmed that no storms or tropical depressions are expected to affect the Philippines during Christmas because no low pressure areas appear during this period.
However, some areas, especially the eastern part of Luzon, are still likely to see rain due to the combined impact of wind shear and easterly winds.
Before Christmas, many areas of Luzon and some other places are forecast to be affected by simultaneous wind shear, northeast monsoon and easterly winds.
Cloudy weather with scattered showers and thunderstorms due to wind shear is forecast to affect the provinces of Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Kalinga, Mountain Province and Ifugao. Wind shear is also forecast to affect Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan and Quezon province.
In Metro Manila and the rest of Central Luzon, wind shear could cause cloudy skies, accompanied by showers or thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the easterly winds are forecast to affect the Visayas, Mimapora, Bicol region, Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte province, causing cloudy skies with rain.
Ilocos is likely to be affected by the northeast monsoon, while other areas in the Philippines continue to be affected by the easterly wind.
PAGASA recommends that people in affected areas, except for Ilocos, should be on guard against the risk of flash floods and landslides, especially during heavy rains.
In the PAGASA storm and low pressure forecast bulletin on December 22, forecasters said that during the week from December 22 to 28, no low pressure will form near the Philippines.
Previously, in its December 19 forecast, PAGASA said that a low pressure is likely to form east of the Philippines this week.
However, in the December 22 forecast bulletin, PAGASA said that a new low pressure in the southern East Sea is forecast to form during the week from December 29, 2025 to January 4, 2026.
Forecast models show that this low pressure in the East Sea will appear in the southwest of the Philippine Forecast Area (PAR), near southern Palwan with little chance of strengthening into a storm or tropical depression.
