The latest weather forecast from the National Meteorological Center (NMC) predicts that cold air activity will occur quite frequently in the next 10 days. In particular, a cold front is forecast to continue affecting southern China on November 18.
Average temperatures in most southern areas of the Hoang Hoai region - including some provinces such as Ha Nam, Anhui, Jiangsu and Son Dong - will record temperatures dropping by 6-10 degrees Celsius, with local declines of 12-14 degrees Celsius.
Earlier this week, China's Emergency Management Board (MEM) also issued a warning for some areas to be on guard against prolonged cold air, with temperatures dropping in some localities above 14 degrees Celsius.
On November 17, the National Meteorological Center of China also issued a blue warning for cold air. Due to the influence of strong cold air masses, it is forecasted that by the morning of November 19, the northern and eastern regions of Sichuan, Chongqing and some other areas in southwestern China will record temperatures dropping by 6-8 degrees Celsius.
Similarly, the weather agency of Quang Dong province said that the first cold air mass in this winter has formed. This cold air mass will lead to the most obvious weather change from November 18 to November 19, when the temperature across the province is expected to drop by 6-10 degrees Celsius.
It is forecasted that on the morning of November 19 or November 20, most areas will record the lowest temperature during this severe cold spell. The temperature in northern Quang Dong and the northern Chau Giang River Delta is expected to drop to 6-9 degrees Celsius, with the northern highland districts having temperatures down to 1-3 degrees Celsius.
Southern coastal areas will maintain more temperate temperatures of 13-15 degrees Celsius, while other areas will be stable at 9-12 degrees Celsius. Light rain or thunderstorms are forecast in some areas of the province until November 19.
The Hong Kong Meteorological Station (China) warned of a significant drop in temperatures from November 18 as the cold air mass arrived. The minimum temperature here is expected to be 14 degrees Celsius on November 19 and 20. This cold air mass is warned by Hong Kong (China) forecasters to have significant cold winds due to the influence of strong northeast monsoons.
According to the enhanced cold air bulletin of the Vietnam National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the morning of November 18, cold air affected most of the Northeast region.
Lowest temperature in the cold air mass: Northern and North Central Plains 12-15 degrees Celsius; Northern mountainous and midland areas 9-12 degrees Celsius; High mountainous areas below 5 degrees Celsius; Quang Tri and Hue 17-19 degrees Celsius; Hanoi area has rain, showers, cold weather, some places are very cold, the lowest temperature is generally 12-14 degrees Celsius.
