The latest storm and low pressure information on December 15 from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that a new low pressure could form and affect the country during the Christmas week.
Accordingly, it is forecasted that from December 19 to 25, a low pressure area may form in eastern Mindanao, Philippines.
The new low pressure is forecast to move slowly and may cause rain in Caraga, Eastern Visayas or the Bicol region.
Currently, as of noon on December 15, no low pressure areas or tropical storms have been monitored in the Philippine forecast area.
In the weather forecast bulletin on December 15, PAGASA said that the northeast monsoon or amihan and the easterly wind are expected to cause rain for the whole country during the day.
The northeast monsoon is forecast to affect Luzon, while the easterly winds will bring rain to the rest of the Philippines.
Accordingly, the northeast monsoon will cause cloudy skies with rain in Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora and Quezon.
The northeast monsoon is also forecast to bring light rains to Batanes and the rest of the Cordillera, while causing scattered light rains to Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon, except Mimaropa.
Meanwhile, due to the winter wind, scattered showers and thunderstorms will occur in the Bicol, Caraga, Davao, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar and South Leyte regions.
The easterly winds are also forecast to bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to Mimaropa and other parts of the country.
