On March 3, Admiral Brad Cooper - Commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) - said that the US has attacked about 2,000 targets since the start of the military campaign against Iran.
“We attacked nearly 2,000 targets with more than 2,000 types of ammunition. We have seriously degraded Iran's air defense system and destroyed hundreds of ballistic missiles, launchers and unmanned aerial vehicles of this country,” Mr. Cooper said in a video posted on CENTCOM's X page.
More than 50,000 US soldiers, 200 fighters, 2 aircraft carriers and bombers are participating in this operation," Mr. Cooper added, while revealing "supplementary capabilities are being deployed.
Mr. Cooper also said that the US has destroyed 17 Iranian warships, including 1 submarine. "To date, we have destroyed 17 Iranian ships, including Iran's main operating submarine, which is now heavily punctured in the hull.
Previously, on February 28, the US and Israel launched a large-scale military campaign against Iran. Many major Iranian cities, including Tehran, were attacked.
The White House argues that this campaign is to prevent potential missile and nuclear threats from Iran. At the same time, US leaders publicly called on the Iranian people to stand up against the government and seize control of the country.
The consequences of the airstrikes killed Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and a number of other senior figures in the leadership apparatus of the Islamic Republic.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the launch of a retaliatory operation targeting targets in Israel; US military bases in Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia were also attacked.
