On January 20, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the country's army had deployed a massive night attack. Operation using long-range precision weapons on land, in the air and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The targets are enterprises belonging to the national defense industrial complex, energy facilities, transport infrastructure serving the army, ammunition depots and UAV production workshops of Ukraine.
The Russian side affirmed that the raid had achieved all set goals and all designated targets were hit.
Regarding the situation of ground combat, the latest data shows that the Ukrainian army has suffered heavy losses with about 1,240 soldiers killed or injured throughout the front line in just the past 24 hours.
In the combat area of the Central Military Group, Ukraine suffered the greatest damage with more than 425 soldiers eliminated from combat. Notably, a German-made Leopard tank and 5 armored fighting vehicles were destroyed here.
The Western Army Group and the Southern Army Group also caused significant damage to the enemy. The Western Army Group eliminated about 200 soldiers and 2 tanks from the battlefield; The Southern Army Group eliminated 145 soldiers from the battlefield and destroyed many Western weapons such as Stryker armored vehicles, Paladin self-propelled guns and HMMWV vehicles manufactured by the US.
In the north, Russian units have improved tactical positions in the Sumy and Kharkov regions, causing Ukraine to lose more than 185 troops. Russian forces also destroyed a Vampire (Czech) cannon and an AN/TPQ-50 (US) counter-attack radar station.
Meanwhile, the eastern group advanced deeper into the enemy's defense line in Zaporizhzhia, eliminating 230 soldiers from the battlefield.
In addition to direct clashes, the Russian air force and artillery attacked command posts and gathering points of foreign mercenaries in 158 different areas.
The Russian air defense system operated effectively in the past day when successfully intercepting 5 HIMARS missiles and shooting down up to 254 Ukrainian UAVs.
