A cold front from the Arctic has swept into the US, bringing snow and chills this weekend. However, according to weather forecasters, the cold will recede quickly, giving way to a strong warming period before Christmas, causing temperatures in many areas to skyrocket higher than the average of many years.
A winter storm has brought light to moderate snow to the central and northeastern United States since December 13, according to meteorological agencies. Some places recorded up to 15cm of snow. Immediately after that, a cold front associated with the extreme center of the world caused the temperature to drop sharply in a short time.
The comfort is that this cold spell in the Arctic will leave quite quickly, with the most severe conditions lasting just over 24 hours, said Brettison, senior meteorologist at AccuWeather. A significant warming is awaiting much of the central and eastern United States next week.
While the eastern region faces a short-term cold spell, the western United States is experiencing unusually warm weather. The National Weather Service (NWS) said many western states will see above-average temperatures.
The warming will gradually spread from west to east and is expected to cover most of the United States around December 18.
The forecast shows that some places will witness "unbelievable" warming in mid-December. The High Plains are considered the hot spot of the warming period, when daytime temperatures could reach around 16-18 degrees Celsius in western Nebraska and South Dakota.
Texas could even reach 27 degrees Celsius by the end of next week. Forecast maps show that daytime temperatures in the midwest and northeast could rise to 17 degrees Celsius, from around -6 degrees Celsius to -1 degrees Celsius, soaring to 10-12 degrees Celsius in just a few days, from December 15-18.

The question of many people is whether the warming will destroy the hope of a white Christmas. According to the definition, White Christmas is when there is at least 2.5cm of snow on the ground on December 25, regardless of whether there is snow on that day or not.
Experts say it is too early to make a solid forecast for each region. The NWS notes that another cold front could emerge after the warming period next week, leaving the pre-Krisis weather scenario with many variables.
For Vietnam, cold air is currently covering the North Central region, some places in the Northwest and Central Central regions.
The mountainous and midland areas of the North will be very cold, with some mountainous areas experiencing severe cold. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass in the mountainous and midland areas of the North is generally from 8-11 degrees Celsius, in high mountainous areas, some places are below 6 degrees Celsius; in the Northern Delta, it is generally from 12-15 degrees Celsius; in the North Central region, it is generally from 13-16 degrees Celsius.
A relatively strong cold air mass is forecast to sweep across Vietnam after Christmas, possibly causing severe cold until January 2026.
