President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social on June 16, warning Iranian people to leave the capital. "Everyone should evacuate Tehran immediately!" - Mr. Trump wrote when attending the G7 Summit in Canada.
"Iran should sign the deal I told them to sign. It is a honor and a waste of life. To put it simply, Iran cannot have nuclear weapons. I've said it again and again. Everyone should evacuate Tehran immediately," Trump wrote.
At the G7 summit, President Donald Trump did not sign a joint statement with other leaders on reducing the escalation of the conflict between Israel and Iran.
President Trump said Iran wants to negotiate but should be the first to do so. The US president also said that Iran was given 60 days to negotiate a new nuclear deal but failed.
After a full day at the G7 summit, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on social network X that President Trump had shortened the schedule at the summit. She said Trump would return to Washington DC on the evening of June 16 due to developments in the Middle East.
" President Trump had a great day at the G7, even signing a major trade deal with the UK and Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Many things have been achieved, but given what is happening in the Middle East, President Trump will leave tonight after dinner with heads of state," Leavitt wrote.
The G7 Summit is expected to last until June 17. On the first day of the summit, President Trump met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to finalize the US-UK trade deal agreed by the two leaders last month.
During a meeting with Mr. Starmer, President Trump said that a nuclear deal with Iran could be signed.
Trump was originally scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on June 17 to discuss the Russia-Ukraine conflict. He is also expected to meet with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to discuss trade and immigration.
