The latest storm information from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that at 2:00 a.m. on August 4, a low pressure area (LPA 8a signal) was being monitored outside the Philippine Forecast Area (PAR). PAGASA said the possibility of this area strengthening into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours is low.
However, in the next few days, this low pressure is likely to enter PAR and not excluding moving towards the East Sea, around August 8-14, although the possibility of development is still assessed as low.


PAGASA said that at least 17 storms are expected to form or enter PAR from August 2025 to January 2026.
August is expected to see 2-3 storms. September-October has 2-4 storms. November has 2-3 storms. December has 1-2 storms. There may be one or no storm in January 2026.
Since the beginning of the year, the Philippines has witnessed serious damage due to heavy rains and floods.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the death toll from heavy rains caused by the southwest monsoon and tropical storms has increased to 38. However, only 3 cases have been verified.
The number of injured has increased to 33, with 24 confirmed cases, while the remaining number is still being verified.
There are still 8 people reported missing.
The total number of people affected by storms and floods has increased to nearly 8.6 million people, equivalent to nearly 2.4 million households.
Of these, nearly 25,000 families, equivalent to nearly 92,000 people, are being supported at 839 evacuation centers nationwide.
More than 32,000 other families, equivalent to more than 123,000 individuals, are being supported outside the evacuation centers.
According to the report, a total of more than 73,000 homes were damaged across Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Negros Island, Central Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, Caraga and the Mindanao Autonomous Region.
To support those affected, the government has so far allocated more than 1 billion pesos (about $17.7 million) in aid through the Ministry of Welfare and Social Development, the Office of Civil Defense, local government units and non-governmental organizations.
