The latest storm news on November 6 from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that while storm Yinxing (called Marce in the Philippines) is still east of North Cagayan, at least two depressions are expected to appear within the next week.
The first depression is expected to enter the Philippine forecast area (PAR), with a low or moderate chance of strengthening into a typhoon. The second depression is expected to enter the Philippine typhoon information area (TCID).
Meanwhile, at 4:00 p.m. on November 6, the center of storm Marce was at about 18 degrees north latitude, 124.4 degrees east longitude, 295km east of Aparri, Cagayan.
The strongest wind near the storm center is 150 km/h, gusting up to 185 km/h, central pressure 970 hPa.
The storm is moving slowly westward, with hurricane-force winds extending up to 680km from the center of the storm.
A severe storm warning has been issued for the northern coast of Luzon and the eastern coast of Central Luzon.
Sea conditions forecast for the next 24 hours: Extremely rough seas with waves up to 12m on the Babuyan Islands coast, north coast of mainland Cagayan. Waves up to 8m on the Batanes coast; remaining mainland Cagayan coast. Waves up to 7m on the Isabela coast; northern coast of Ilocos Norte. Waves up to 6m on remaining coast of Ilocos Norte.
Typhoon Marce is expected to move slowly west-northwest over the seas east of Cagayan before gradually accelerating westward tomorrow (November 7) until Saturday (November 9) over the Babuyan Channel and the northern part of the South China Sea, becoming the seventh typhoon in the South China Sea in 2024.
According to the forecast track, the storm will make landfall and pass over the Babuyan Islands and/or the northern parts of mainland Cagayan, Ilocos Norte and Apayao (or very close to these areas) from tomorrow afternoon (November 7) to Friday morning (November 8). The storm may exit PAR by the evening of November 8.
Typhoon Marce is expected to continue to strengthen and could reach peak intensity today before passing through the Babuyan Channel.
The Vietnam National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting also warned about storm Yinxing near the East Sea in the storm forecast at 1:00 p.m. on November 6.
The center said that as of 1 p.m. on November 7, the center of storm Yinxing was located at about 18.8 degrees north latitude, 119.5 degrees east longitude, east of the North East Sea. Wind force level 13, gust level 16.
