The latest storm information on November 6 from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that while Typhoon Yinxing (called Marce in the Philippines) is still east of Northern Cagayan, at least 2 low pressure areas are expected to appear within the next week.
The first low pressure is expected to enter the Philippine Forecast Area (PAR), with a low or moderate chance of strengthening into a storm. The second low pressure area inside the Philippine typhoon information area (TCID).
Meanwhile, at 4:00 p.m. on November 6, the center of Typhoon Marce was at about 18 degrees north latitude, 124.4 degrees east longitude, 295 km east of Aparri, Cagayan.
Maximum winds near the center of the storm are 150 km/h, gusting up to 185 km/h, central pressure 970 hPa.
The storm moved slowly westward, with a storm-force wind range of up to 680km from the center of the storm.
A major typhoon warning has been issued for the northern coast of Luzon and the eastern coast of Central Luzon.
Sea conditions forecast for the next 24 hours: Extreme rough seas with waves up to 12m high on the coast of Babuyan Islands, the northern coast of mainland Cagayan. Waves up to 8m on the Batanes coast; the remaining coast of mainland Cagayan. Waves up to 7m on the Isabela coast; the northern coast of Ilocos Norte. 6m waves on the remaining coast of Ilocos Norte.
Typhoon Marce is expected to move slowly west-northwest across the eastern sea of Cagayan before gradually accelerating westward tomorrow (7.11) through Saturday (9.11) across the Babuyan Channel and the northern part of the South China Sea, becoming the seventh storm in the South China Sea in 2024.
The forecast track will see the typhoon make landfall and pass through the Babuyan Islands and/or northern parts of mainland Cagayan, Ilocos Norte and Apayao (or move very close to these areas) from tomorrow afternoon (7.11) to Friday morning (8.11). The storm may leave PAR by the evening of November 8.
Typhoon Marce is expected to continue to strengthen and may reach its peak intensity today before crossing the Babuyan Channel.
The Vietnam National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting also warned about Typhoon Yinxing near the East Sea in the storm forecast bulletin at 1:00 p.m. on November 6.
The center said that at 1:00 p.m. on November 7, the center of Typhoon Yinxing was at about 18.8 degrees north latitude, 119.5 degrees east longitude, east of the North East Sea. Wind force level 13, gust level 16.
