On July 16, representatives of the teams participating in the 2026 Asian pencak silat Championship held a professional meeting and drew lots to compete with the Organizing Committee.
This year, the Asian pencak silat Federation attracted 9 teams to Vietnam to compete professionally, including Taiwan (China), Malaysia, Philippines, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Thailand and Uzbekistan.
The host team Vietnam registers the best boxers to aim for a gold medal at home this year.
Last year, when the 2025 Asian pencak silat Championship was held at the Ha Tinh Provincial Sports Center, the number of participating teams was also 10.
Pencak silat is not included in the program of ASIAD 20 in Japan.
Therefore, the 2026 Asian Championship is assessed by experts as a high-quality competition with many top continental faces participating.
The 2026 Asian pencak silat Championship will include 13 men's sparring events, from under 45kg to over 110kg weight classes. For women, the competition program has 11 weight classes, from under 45kg to over 100kg.
With performance content, this year's tournament competes in content for individuals, doubles, team and creative individuals, male and female.
It is expected that on the evening of July 17, the Opening Ceremony of the tournament will be held simultaneously with the first events starting to compete. This year's tournament program lasts until July 23.
