Nearly 1,000 fighters from 182 countries and territories have arrived in Wuxi (China) to participate in the 2025 World Taekwondo Championship.
The Vietnamese taekwondo team registered 10 players to compete in Wuxi this time, including Hong Trong, Cong Khoa, Le Tuan, Nguyen Thi Loan, Kim Tuyen, Anh Tuyet, Ngoc Cham, Anh Ngan, Bac Thi Khiem.
Among them, fighter Bac Thi Khiem is the reigning Asian champion of the women's 67kg weight class. She won the championship when the 2024 Asian tournament was held in Da Nang in 2024.
The Taekwondo World Championship will take place from October 24 to October 30. The organizing committee included male events in the competition including 54kg, 58kg, 63kg, 68kg, 74kg, 80kg, 87kg and over 87kg. The women's event has a weight class of 46kg, 49kg, 53kg, 57kg, 62kg, 67kg, 73kg and over 73kg.
In the competitions at the World Championship, the Vietnam Taekwondo Team has never won a medal. Therefore, the goal of Vietnamese fighters at the 2025 World Championship is to strive for the highest results.
Currently, Vietnamese taekwondo is professionally preparing for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand. Therefore, the competitions at the World Championship are an important professional test to help each boxer ensure good form before participating in the 33rd SEA Games.
According to the Vietnam Taekwondo Team Coaching Board, after the 2025 World Championship, some players will be trained abroad to improve their skills and then participate in the 33rd SEA Games.
