Vietnamese karate athletes won the first 3 bronze medals when competing at the 2026 Asian Championships.

The 2026 Asian Karate Championship is held in Indonesia. On the opening day of June 18, local time, the Vietnamese karate athlete won 3 bronze medals.

The first bronze medal was in the men's team kata (performance) event.

Vietnam's squad performed including players Giang Viet Anh, Le Nguyen Thai Hung, Pham Minh Duc, Pham Truong Giang and won 3rd place, with a bronze medal.

Following the above results, the Vietnamese karate team won another bronze medal in the women's 50kg weight class in the kumite (combat) competition. Martial artist Nguyen Thi Thu won this result.

In the 55kg weight class, martial artist Nguyen Duy Khanh also won a bronze medal.

The tournament lasts until June 21, the Vietnamese karate team still participates in many events of the tournament and has the opportunity to achieve the highest results.

This year, the Vietnamese karate team registered 20 athletes to compete in the 2026 Asian Championship. The squad includes many key martial artists preparing for ASIAD 20.

Last year, the Vietnamese karate athlete won 3 gold medals and 1 bronze medal at the Asian Championships. The coaching staff also set a target to strive to win a gold medal at this year's Asian Championships.

In July, the players will continue to compete in the 2026 Southeast Asian Championship, which is expected to take place at the Ninh Binh provincial gymnasium.
