On the morning of March 29, at the Hien Luong - Ben Hai National Special Relic Site (Quang Tri province), the Flag-raising ceremony and the opening ceremony of the 66th Tien Phong National Marathon and Long-Distance Championship (Tien Phong Marathon 2025) officially took place.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 66th National Marathon and Long Distance Championship of Tien Phong newspaper - 2025, Journalist Phung Cong Suong - Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong newspaper, co-Head of the Organizing Committee said: "The 66th National Marathon and Long Distance Championship of Tien Phong newspaper - 2025 has the participation of more than 7,000 athletes from all over the country, becoming a special occasion for the values of gratitude and national pride to spread.
Through meaningful activities such as Offering incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs at Truong Son Cemetery, Road 9 Cemetery, Quang Tri Ancient Citadel; releasing flower lanterns along Thach Han River, donating gratitude houses in Quang Tri Province... we are even more excited about the image of the river in one strip, and being more proud of the two words of the people.
This is not only a connection between sports and historical traditions, but also an opportunity for everyone to remember and honor the great sacrifices of previous generations".
The Flag-raising ceremony opened the series of attractive sporting events of Tien Phong Marathon 2025. This is an opportunity for talented athletes to compete and demonstrate their sportsmanship, while cultural and historical activities in Quang Tri also contribute to honoring national spiritual values and promoting the image of Vietnam in the eyes of international friends.
To express national pride and deep gratitude to many previous generations, expressing the will, spirit and confidence in the mighty future of the Fatherland, the Organizing Committee and the athletes together spread the 250m2 Fatherland Front with the meaning of connecting the strength of international solidarity forever.
This year's Tien Phong Marathon attracted more than 7,000 professional and amateur athletes and will compete in distances of 21.1km; 42.195km for professional men/women and amateur; 10km for professional men, young men, men, women; 5km for professional women, young women and men, women.
Among them, many Vietnamese national players such as Nguyen Thi Oanh, Nguyen Van Lai, Hoang Nguyen Thanh, Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa, Nguyen Trung Cuong... also participated in the competition.
To ensure accuracy, the running route of the tournament has been measured by a road user from the Vietnam Athletics Federation using specialized equipment and carefully inspected according to international standards.
In addition, according to Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - General Secretary of the Vietnam Athletics Federation, Tien Phong Marathon 2025 is an important tournament to select athletes to participate in the 33rd SEA Games. In addition to the national championship, from now until the Congress, there are still a number of tournaments that meet road standards.
On that basis, the Federation will finalize the force participating in the SEA Games. However, the Tien Phong Marathon has mostly gathered the strongest athletes, competing the most fiercely.
