This year, the 2026 National Strong Team Vovinam Championship attracted 23 units nationwide to compete. The competition events took place at the Quang Ngai Provincial Sports and Physical Training Center (facility 2), Kon Tum ward (Quang Ngai).
We assess that the expertise of the tournament is of high quality. Athletes have shown their professional skills. This is an opportunity for units to conduct professional inspections to prepare for the X-2026 National Sports Games.
Ending the last day of competition on April 23, the Ho Chi Minh City team won the No. 1 position with a total of 13 gold medals, 5 silver medals, 2 bronze medals.
Can Tho team ranked second (10 gold medals, 1 silver medal) while Thanh Hoa team ranked third (4 gold medals, 10 silver medals, 5 bronze medals).
Vovinam is not included in the SEA Games 33 competition program in Thailand in 2025. It is expected that at SEA Games 34 in 2027, vovinam will also continue to be absent. However, Vietnamese vovinam still has many international missions this year.
In Quang Ngai this year, athletes competed in 48 events (26 sparring, 22 boxing performances).
In the boxing performance, the tournament organized contents including women's singles practice (female poinsettia, dragon and tiger poinsettia, Tai Chi knife, essence of double sword technique), men's singles practice (hundreds of eight senses, five-monkey poinsettia, day and night large knife technique, four-statue boxing technique), women's doubles practice (double 3 practice, double sword practice), men's doubles practice (double wrestling 2 practice, doubles machete practice), men's doubles practice (double bare hands practice, doubles weapon practice), women's doubles practice (double bare hands practice, doubles weapon practice).
Team events include men's team (ngũ môn quyền), women's team (long hổ quyền), men's attacking kick, women's self-defense, men's basic technical team, women's basic technical team.
In July, units across the country will continue to participate in the 2026 National Youth Championship held in Nghe An.
