According to the initial program, the organizing committee of the host Malaysia of SEA Games 34 included 38 sports in the official list.
However, at the 2nd Conference of the Southeast Asian Games Federation - SEAGF held on July 16 in Malaysia, representatives of the SEA Games 34 Organizing Committee and countries in the region worked in detail to add more sports.
According to the decision, 5 additional sports added to the official competition program will be sports dance – dancesport, teqball, padel, kabaddi, ice hockey.
SEA Games 34 will not organize many important sports such as handball, rowing, canoeing, jujitsu, wrestling, kickboxing, triathlon, futsal...
This means that Vietnamese sports will lose more than 20 gold medals compared to the results played at SEA Games 33 last year in Thailand.

Thus, the 43 sports of SEA Games 34 held from September 18 to September 29, 2027 in Malaysia respectively include: sports dance – dancesport, teqball, padel, kabaddi, ice hockey, water sports (swimming, diving), weightlifting, basketball, bowling, lawn bowls, esports, gymnastics (gymnastics, aerobics), golf, cricket, archery, shooting, muay, marbles, squash, taekwondo, tennis, wushu, sepak takraw, billiards & snooker, judo, boxing, table tennis, floor ball, football, badminton, cycling, volleyball, netball, horse racing, hockey, karate, fencing, ice skating, athletics, pencak silat, sailing, rugby, water skiing.
The Southeast Asian Games will be hosted by Malaysia in 4 locations including Sarawak, Penang, Johor and Kuala Lumpur.
The organizing committee of the host Malaysia of SEA Games 34 has officially announced the mascot of the Games, named TUAH.
Vovinam was proposed by Vietnamese Sports to be added to the SEA Games 34 program, but it was not approved.
At SEA Games 34, a new sport was officially included as padel. This sport was included in the ASIAD 20 competition program by the Asian Olympic Council – OCA.
