On the evening of April 16 local time, two athletes Le Thi Cam Tu and Kha Thanh Truc of the Vietnamese athletics team competed in the final of the women's 200m event at the 2026 Singapore Open International Athletics Championships.
With the best form, Le Thi Cam Tu finished first to win the gold medal with a time of 23 seconds 64. Le Thi Cam Tu's achievement is the 2nd gold medal of the Vietnamese athletics team at the tournament in Singapore.
On the previous competition day, April 15, we won a gold medal in the women's 100m event by Phung Thi Hue.
In the women's 200m final, finishing second was athlete Tan Elizabeth-Ann Shee (Singapore) with a time of 24 seconds 20. Third place was athlete Yang Mei-Mei (Taiwan, China) with a time of 24 seconds 37. In this event, Singapore and Southeast Asia's No. 1 athlete, Veronica Shanti, did not compete due to injury.
Le Thi Cam Tu is currently the leading athlete of Vietnamese athletics in the women's 200m event. She won a silver medal at SEA Games 33 in this event with a time of 23 seconds 24. The above result has been recognized as the national record for women's 200m of Vietnamese athletics.
The 2026 Singapore Open International Athletics Tournament will be held until the end of the 17th. 4. The Vietnamese athletics team also competes in the women's 4x100m relay event.
