Table tennis of the 33rd SEA Games officially kicked off today, December 12 in Bangkok (Thailand). Before the competition, the contents were drawn.
What is noteworthy is that tennis player Dinh Anh Hoang will not participate in the men's singles event as he previously wished. The reason is that the technical expert department of the 33rd SEA Games table tennis tournament does not accept the changes of teams compared to the initial registration.
Before participating in the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnam Table Tennis Team registered two players Nguyen Anh Tu and Nguyen Duc Tuan to compete in the men's singles event. At the technical meeting, the representative of the Vietnam Table Tennis Team expressed his desire to replace Dinh Anh Hoang in Nguyen Anh Tu's position. However, the regulation of the sport is that it has been specifically registered with the Organizing Committee since the beginning, so it cannot be changed.
Therefore, Dinh Anh Hoang will participate in 3 events at the 33rd SEA Games: men's team, men's doubles (competing with Le Dinh Duc), men's and women's doubles (competing with Tran Mai Ngoc).
At the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, this tennis player won the gold medal in the mixed doubles with Tran Mai Ngoc.
For the singles event, the Vietnam Table Tennis Team will have Nguyen Anh Tu, Nguyen Duc Tuan competing in men's singles and Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh, Nguyen Thi Nga competing in women's singles.
The men's and women's team events start from December 12. According to the draw in the team event, the Vietnam men's team will join Group A with Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar and the women's team will join Group A with Thailand and the Philippines.
