Last year, the Hanoi youth karate team topped the medal standings of the 2025 National Youth Championship. This year, the results are still guaranteed.
The 2026 National Youth Championship has just ended competition at the Thanh Hoa Provincial Sports and Physical Training Center.
At the end of the tournament, the Hanoi youth karate team had 15 gold medals, 11 silver medals, 19 bronze medals to rank No. 1.
Second place overall this year is the Ho Chi Minh City team with 9 gold medals, 11 silver medals, 17 bronze medals. The Army team has third place with 7 gold medals, 8 silver medals, 8 bronze medals.
In the competition results, young Hanoi karate martial artists have won some notable gold medal achievements in the kumite (combat) competition of Nguyen Nam Luat in the men's 55kg weight class, Ho Doan Tra My in the women's 40kg weight class (age group 14-15); Nguyen Duc Long in the men's 55kg weight class, Pham Thu Hong in the women's 52kg weight class (age group 16-17); Chu Van Duc in the men's 58kg weight class, Vuong Thi Tuyet in the women's 59kg weight class (age group 18-22)...
Also in the overall medal standings, 6 units did not win gold medals including Hung Yen, Quang Tri, Lao Cai, Vinh Long, Lai Chau, Cao Bang.
From the tournament, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese Youth Karate Team will further assess the level of potential athletes before having a plan to supplement the training force to perform national duties.
