Vietnam billiards team may not participate in the 33rd SEA Games

It is likely that the Vietnamese billiards team will not compete in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand due to lack of strengths.

General Secretary of the Vietnam Billiards & snooker Federation - Mr. Doan Tuan Anh said: "Based on the billiards events that will be organized and predicted at the 33rd SEA Games and the possibility of having a hard time winning a medal, we calculate that we may not send the Vietnam Billiards Team to compete. The plan will report to the manager for a specific plan".

In addition, some opinions have proposed sending the Vietnam Billiards Team to the 33rd SEA Games using socialized funds, but the manager has not yet made a final decision.

The Vietnamese billiard team participated in the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia and won 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals. Our two gold medals are in the carom content (Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu, Le Thi Ngoc Hue).

However, the billiards event of the 33rd SEA Games will not organize carom and pool events. The Thai host organizing committee only included 10 sets of medals for the British billiards and snooker events for this sport. These are contents that are not the strengths of Vietnamese players.

Due to the carom and pool not being held, many famous players such as Tran Quyet Chien and Nguyen Hoang Sao will be absent from the 33rd SEA Games.

At this time, Nguyen Hoang Sao is competing in the international tournament in the US while Tran Quyet Chien will go to China to compete in the 2025 World Games.

In addition to Tran Quyet Chien, the Vietnam Billiards Team also has player Phung Kien Tuong who won a place at the 2025 World Games in the women's 3-cushion carom event. The player left on August 9.
