Today (June 15), members of the Vietnam Karate Team will go to Indonesia to participate in the 2026 Asian Championship.
The tournament has an official competition program from June 18 to June 21.
Vietnamese karate martial artists will have time to adapt to the weather at the competition venue and get acquainted with the gymnasium to be ready to compete.
Before the tournament takes place, the Organizing Committee will draw lots for each professional content.
Coming to the 2026 Asian Championships, head coach Pham Hong Ha registered 20 martial artists with the best expertise to compete in kata (performance) and kumite events.

Last year, the Vietnamese karate team ranked 3rd overall when achieving a total of 3 gold medals and 1 bronze medal.
The gold medals were won by Vietnamese karate athletes in the women's kata team event (Ngoc Nhi, Thu Uyen, Ngoc Tram, Nguyen Thi Phuong), women's 55kg (Hoang Thi My Tam), women's kumite team event (Dinh Thi Huong, My Tam, Dieu Ly, Nguyen Thi Ngoan).
This year, the 2026 Asian Championship will have 33 teams registered to compete with a total of 412 martial artists competing.
Vietnamese karate athletes set a goal to strive to protect their medal achievements in 2025.
This year, karate is one of the official competitions held at ASIAD 20 in September in Japan.
