The Vietnam General mixed martial arts Federation (VMMAF) has announced the force participating in the 33rd SEA Games, including Pham Van Nam (traditional MMA men's 56kg), Tran Ngoc Luong ( Modern MMA men's 60kg), Quang Van Minh ( Modern MMA men's 65kg), Nguyen Vu Quynh Hoa ( Modern MMA women's 60kg), Duong Thi Thanh Binh ( Modern MMA women's 54kg) and Le Ngoc Thu ( traditional MMA women's 54kg).
This is the first time the Vietnamese MMA team has participated in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand. This year, MMA has been included in the official competition program of the Southeast Asian Games.
The Vietnam MMA team aims to strive for a gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games. In the squad of MMA Vietnam, boxer Tran Ngoc Luong won the professional mixed martial arts championship at the 2025 MMA Lion Championship. In addition, this face has had important results in her high school's jujitsu. Players Nguyen Vu Quynh Hoa and Duong Thi Thanh Binh are also the champions of the 2025 MMA Lion Championship.
Previously, VMMAF reported to the leaders of the Department of Physical Education and Sports on the professional preparation of the Vietnam MMA Team to participate in the 33rd SEA Games and proposed using socialized funding. The proposal has been approved. Therefore, the 6 athletes participating in the 33rd SEA Games were implemented with the socialized budget of VMMAF.
