The two players proposed to become Vietnamese citizens are Geovane Magno Candido Silveira and Janclesio Almeida Santos. Both are Brazilian.
According to the document sent by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to the Ministry of Justice, the proposal to naturalize these two players was made based on the professional assessment from the Vietnam Football Federation and national team head coach Kim Sang-sik. The document clearly stated that Geovane and Janclesio both have a spirit of dedication, long-term attachment to Vietnamese football and express their desire to live and play here.
Geovane Magno (born in 1994) is a midfielder who played for Saigon FC, Hanoi FC, The Cong Viettel, Hanoi Police and currently plays for Ninh Binh. He has scored a total of 21 goals since joining V.League in 2019, contributing to the clubs achieving high rankings in many seasons.
Meanwhile, Janclesio Almeida (born in 1993) plays as a central defender, having played for The Cong Viettel, Da Nang, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, Becamex Binh Duong before joining Ninh Binh. With many years of experience in the V.League, Janclesio is considered an important factor in the defensive system.
If approved, both will officially become Vietnamese citizens and play as domestic players. This not only gives Ninh Binh club an advantage in using foreign players but also opens up the possibility that these two players will be considered for the national team in the future.
Currently, the naturalization file has been transferred to the Ministry of Justice for consideration according to regulations.
