Young male swimmer Tran Van Nguyen Quoc has returned to the professional training program after the 2026 Tet holiday to aim for the goal of surpassing the threshold at ASIAD 20.

Swimmer Tran Van Nguyen Quoc had a Tet holiday with relatives in his hometown recently. However, right from the 2nd day of Tet (February 18), Nguyen Quoc still maintained his familiar training pace to go down to the water to maintain his expertise.

Recalling his achievements in competition, Nguyen Quoc was quite cautious, saying that his own results still need more careful preparation to help improve professional parameters.

Last year, Nguyen Quoc won 5 medals in his first participation in SEA Games 33 in Thailand. The 17-year-old boy won 1 gold medal (4x200m freestyle relay), 3 silver medals (200m freestyle, 400m freestyle, 4x100m freestyle relay) and 1 bronze medal (100m freestyle).

Before participating in SEA Games 33, I did not put much emphasis on achievements. I only set one requirement for myself: swim to the fullest, do my best what the coaching staff requires. When I finished looking at the electronic board, I saw that I had medal results. At that time, I was very touched," Nguyen Quoc recalled.

The first day Nguyen Quoc came to the swimming pool in Da Nang city was only to follow the requests of his parents to exercise to help strengthen his health. In the end, the coaches saw Nguyen Quoc's development potential, so they expressed their wish to the family for their son to pursue an athlete career.

My parents also had to think a lot. Finally, my parents agreed to let me try my hand. That was my predestined relationship with my swimming career. Now, I have achieved results for Da Nang sports and the Vietnamese swimming team," the male swimmer added.

2025 has closed with milestones of achievements, and Nguyen Quoc remembers the moments of reaching the finish line at SEA Games 33. However, ahead are many journeys for the Da Nang guy to strive for.

The top goal set by Nguyen Quoc is to have the opportunity to win a spot to participate in ASIAD 20. Not only this young swimmer, all faces of the Vietnamese swimming team want a chance to try their hand at the ASIAD arena because this is the most prestigious professional competition venue.

I always set one thing for myself, which is to overcome myself, before overcoming opponents on the race track," Nguyen Quoc once shared in Thailand when participating in SEA Games 33. Regarding the ASIAD 20 mission, Nguyen Quoc cautiously said: "I really hope I will have the opportunity to compete in ASIAD 20 and participate in my forte final events.

Before SEA Games 33 last year, Tran Van Nguyen Quoc competed in 2 professional quality tournaments to understand his level against opponents, which were the 2025 World Youth Championship and the 2025 Asian Championship. Through each tournament above, the Da Nang player himself felt that he learned more.

Surely if he can compete in Japan in ASIAD 20, the opportunity for Nguyen Quoc to break through achievements is promising. The male athlete currently has the strength and professional energy of youth.
