Students have enough opportunities to access golf
In fact, in Hanoi, To Vinh Dien Primary School (Dong Da District, Hanoi) became the first public school of this level in the capital to agree to include golf in the curriculum for students.
The representative of the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA) shared that the program is the beginning of a multi-party cooperation project between schools and the Vietnam Golf Promotion and Development Center (VNCentre), the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA), and the World Golf Administration and Development Agency (The R&A) with the goal of bringing golf closer to Vietnamese students. In this program, golf is taught for free after school hours at schools for 1 period/week and will start from January 2025. The workshop with the theme "Sustainable development of the Vietnamese golf industry" held in Khanh Hoa has attracted the attention of professionals and many managers to see the value that golf brings. In particular, an interesting issue was raised: whether or not golf should be introduced to players from school age.
Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam Golf Association - Mr. Bach Cuong Khang said: "We think that the solution for students at primary and secondary schools to get acquainted with the golf education program in physical education is necessary. From there, help them form the habit of knowing about golf early, forming the mindset in it...".
Above all, it is still developing sports for everyone.
One of the key tasks set forth in Conclusion No. 70-KL/TW of the Politburo dated January 31, 2024 on the development of physical education and sports in the new period specifically stated: "Encourage the development of mass physical education and sports, create opportunities for everyone to participate in training, performing, and competing activities to improve health, prevent and treat diseases, and have fun and entertain.
Improve the quality of physical education, develop various types of activities, create conditions for students to participate in physical education and sports activities, and develop their physical fitness. Pay attention to investing in facilities, teachers, lecturers for all levels of education, training levels and scientific research on age-related psychology, physical education and school sports.
Therefore, physical sports activities for students are necessary to build scientifically, creating exercise habits. This August, Hanoi Educational Technology Primary School took a bold step by introducing golf into the main curriculum. There, 23 classes of the school (from first grade to fifth grade) all learned golf.
According to the figures, after each semester, each student can take from 10 to 20 golf lessons.
Golf has its own characteristics. The sport faces a big “barrier” from people’s acceptance that it is an expensive sport. However, starting to get acquainted from the school environment, each student will know that sport and then in the future gradually build awareness for the sport, or love to pursue it long term.
