Medals help shooters relieve pressure
I have never won an Asian medal or an international medal in the 25m sports pistol event, but this time I have won third place at the 2025 Asian Championship. I feel very comfortable when I achieve my set goals" - shooter Trinh Thu Vinh expressed.
Thu Vinh has identified the 25m sports pistol as her favorite event, similar to her forte of the 10m air pistol event that she has competed in many international tournaments.
Before the 2025 Asian Championship, Trinh Thu Vinh competed in the women's 25m air pistol at the 19th ASIAD in 2022 and the 2024 Paris Olympics (France) but has not won a medal. In France in 2024, the female player qualified as a fourth-place finisher, then finished seventh in the final. Recalling her time at the Olympics, Trinh Thu Vinh said that she was somewhat mentally tense so she had not achieved the best results.
"The 10m air pistol and 25m sports pistol events require a technical difference. Basically, the technique of shooters still has to be highly concentrated. I have been carefully prepared by the coach and the result of the Bronze Medal at the Asian tournament shows the results of that preparation process" - Trinh Thu Vinh added.
Three years ago, Trinh Thu Vinh ranked 27th in the 25m sports pistol event at the 19th ASIAD women's event in 2022. Three years later, she won third place at the 2025 Asian Championship. The achievement is certainly one of the most encouraging professional developments that Trinh Thu Vinh has achieved. She determined that the results at the 2025 Asian Championship will be a professional fulcrum to prepare for the 20th ASIAD in 2026.
The hope of Vietnamese sports
Sports shooting has introduced many generations of talented athletes with remarkable achievements. Vietnamese shooting has achieved remarkable results with the Gold Medal and Silver Olympic Medal in 2016 by shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh. Following that success, Trinh Thu Vinh is one of the outstanding young shooters in the professional field of Vietnamese shooting and Vietnamese sports in the international arena.
According to statistics, Trinh Thu Vinh is the first female shooter in Vietnam to win an individual medal at the Asian Championship. She won the Bronze Medal in the women's 10m air pistol event at the 2023 Asian Championship and the Bronze Medal in the women's 25m sports pistol event at the 2025 Asian Championship. This female player is also the first female shooter from Vietnam to reach two finals at the Olympics (ranked fourth in the 10m air pistol event, seventh in the 25m sports pistol event).
She once shared: Athletes all want to achieve the best results to properly reflect the training and investment of Vietnamese sports in themselves. I am always honored and proud to wear the national team jersey, winning the medal to bring glory to the Fatherland.
Speaking about Trinh Thu Vinh, many teammates and coaches confirmed that the female player is modest, hard-working to learn and maintains a very high discipline in training. Trinh Thu Vinh answered the press after competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics (France) that she had accumulated experience in large arenas and devoted all her time to training and competing. She rarely appears on social networks or because Thu Vinh believes that time spent on her expertise is still a top priority.
