The Thai Olympic Committee, as well as the 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee of Thailand, held a meeting to finalize a number of hot issues ahead of the event. One of the issues of concern is the security of the Cambodian sports delegation.
According to the proposed plan, Thailand proposed that the athletes and officials of the Cambodian sports delegation will gather at 3 locations for the 33rd SEA Games, Bangkok, Chon buri and Songkhla instead of at each sport as in other countries. Thailand will provide adequate security personnel. According to the Thai press, the Cambodian side is satisfied with this option.
As the host country, Thailand is determined to be in the top spot in the group. To encourage home athletes, the Thai government has a plan to increase bonuses. The Thai Olympic Committee said it would discuss the issue with Deputy Prime Minister Thammanat Prompao. Mr. Thammanat pledged to submit the issue to the cabinet and the final conclusion will be made on November 20.
In addition, the Thai sports leaders will also soon finalize the issue of training subsidies for athletes, which have been pending since August 2025. The Thai Sports Authority and the Thai Sports Development Fund are expected to soon disburse training funds until November.
Malaysia, host of the 34th SEA Games, will send a delegation of officials to study and monitor Thailand's readiness to host the Games from November 14 to 17.
The leaders of the Thai Olympic Committee expressed concern about Thailand's readiness in some stages to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games, especially stadiums, information technology operations and live broadcasting.
Therefore, the leader of the Thai Olympic Committee called on relevant parties not to be subjective and to prepare carefully to welcome the Malaysian delegation. Malaysia will collect detailed information to prepare for the SEA Games in Malaysia in the next two years and will act as a strong spokesperson for Thailand's readiness for the 33rd SEA Games.
In addition, the live broadcast of the 33rd SEA Games is open to Thai sports associations outside of the main channels, allowing them to broadcast themselves. The fee for a broadcast channel is only 2,000 USD and the signal can be transferred directly to the channels of sports federations and associations. Previously, Thailand planned to only broadcast 30 50% of the events of the 33rd SEA Games live.
