On the afternoon of November 5, the draw for the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship finals took place in Jakarta (Indonesia). According to the results, the Vietnam futsal team is in Group B with the current runners-up Thailand, Kuwait and Lebanon. This is a group that is considered challenging but also opens up opportunities for coach Diego Giustozzi and his team.
In other groups, host Indonesia is defaulted to be in Group A, in the same group as Iraq, Kyrgyzstan and South Korea. Meanwhile, defending champion Iran is in Group D with Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. The two teams that won 3rd and 4th place in the previous tournament, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, were placed in the same group as Japan and Australia.

The 2026 AFC Futsal Championship finals will take place from January 27 to February 7, 2026 in Jakarta. The tournament has a total of 16 participating teams, divided into 4 groups competing in a round-robin to select the top two teams from each group to the quarter-finals. From this round onwards, matches will be held in a knockout format to determine the continental champion.
According to the FIFA men's futsal rankings announced on August 29, 2025, the Vietnam team is currently ranked 26th in the world, in the number 2 seed group with Uzbekistan (19), Afghanistan (33) and Iraq (41). With its current position and significant progress in recent times, the Vietnam futsal team is expected to continue to make its mark in the 2026 tournament.
