Thailand takes strong measures to handle fake news related to the organization of the 33rd SEA Games

The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) has announced that it will apply legal measures to individuals who spread false information about the 33rd SEA Games.

The Sports Agency of Thailand (SAT) has just issued a strong announcement regarding false information surrounding preparations for the 33rd SEA Games.

In a statement to the media, SAT emphasized that the organization is always ready to receive constructive comments to improve the quality of operations and aim for an international standard SEA Games.

According to SAT, comments contributed to charity will be considered for timely adjustment during the congress operations.

However, this agency also affirmed that it will not give in to information that is distorted, distorted or has an insulting nature to the host unit.

According to SAT, the false content not only affected SAT's reputation, but also negatively affected the working spirit of the staff working hard to prepare for the biggest sporting event in the region.

The Thai Sports Agency said it will apply legal measures to individuals who spread false information, depending on the severity of the violation. The handling form may include administrative discipline, civil lawsuit to criminal prosecution. The goal of these measures is to protect the reputation of the agency and maintain a transparent information environment in sensitive times before the congress.

In the past, although the 33rd SEA Games have not officially kicked off, Thailand has faced a number of incidents that have upset the public.

The confusion of national flags, sound problems in the U22 Vietnam - Laos match caused teams to sing national anthems without music, or the delay in issuing business cards... caused the organizing committee to receive a lot of criticism.

The above problems unintentionally create conditions for fake information and distorted content to spread on social networks, forcing SAT to take strong action to control the situation.
