The 2026 Asian Handgun and Rifle Championship officially took place in India on February 4. 2. Trinh Thu Vinh and many top faces of the Vietnamese shooting team competed in the women's 10m air pistol and men's 10m air pistol events.
In the women's 10m air pistol shooting event, Trinh Thu Vinh passed the qualifying round to participate in the final. In the final, the leading female shooter of Vietnam had 177.2 points, ranking 5th. Also competing in the final, shooter Trieu Thi Hoa Hong had 154.7 points, ranking 6th.
Vietnamese female shooters did not win a medal in the individual 10m air pistol event. However, we have a team silver medal.
3 shooters Trinh Thu Vinh, Trieu Thi Hoa Hong, Nguyen Thuy Trang achieved 1713 points, ranked second and won silver medals. The Indian team won a gold medal with 1726 points, and the third place was the Taiwanese team (China) with 1711 points.
In the men's 10m air pistol event, shooter Pham Quang Huy participated in the individual final. Unfortunately, the male athlete of the Vietnamese shooting team only ranked 6th (157.9 points).
Calculating the team points of the event, shooters Pham Quang Huy, Lai Cong Minh, Nguyen Dinh Thanh had 1715 points but only ranked 4th. The champion of the team event at the tournament is the Uzbekistan team (1732 points).
The 2026 Asian Handgun and Rifle Championship will be held until the end of the 14th. 2. The Vietnamese shooting team has registered 14 shooters to participate in the events of handguns and rifles.
