The coaching staff of the Vietnamese swimming team said that we have identified 2 official slots to participate in the 2026 Youth Olympics to be held in Senegal from October 31 to November 13.
The two players who will go to Senegal to compete are Nguyen Thuy Hien and Duong Van Hoang Quy.
Nguyen Thuy Hien meets the standard to participate in the 2026 Youth Olympics in the women's 100m freestyle event, while Duong Van Hoang Quy participates in the men's 200m butterfly event.
According to Lao Dong's investigation, these 2 young players have been sent by the Vietnamese swimming team to China for professional training from August 15.
The training program is for athletes to accumulate expertise to be ready for competition tasks in September and October. It is expected that the training session will close on September 14.
Nguyen Thuy Hien is a young female athlete with good expertise in Vietnamese swimming.
She won 3 bronze medals at SEA Games 33 held in Thailand last year.
Recently, Thuy Hien also won 3 gold medals at the 2026 Asian Age Group Championships played in Thailand.
The Vietnamese swimming team once had 3 slots to participate in the 2018 Youth Olympics in Argentina. At the above Games, swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang won a gold medal in the men's 800m freestyle event. Swimmers Pham Thanh Bao and Vu Thi Phuong Anh competed in the 2018 Youth Olympics unsuccessfully.
The swimming event of the 2026 Youth Olympics has a total of 328 slots awarded (164 male, 164 female).
