Young swimmer Nguyen Thuy Hien continued to win a gold medal on the penultimate day of the 2026 Asian Age Group Championship.

Nguyen Thuy Hien and the Vietnamese swimming team won 2 more gold medals on the competition day of July 20 in Thailand.

This is the penultimate day of the 2026 Asian Age Group Championship.

Nguyen Thuy Hien participated in the women's 100m breaststroke final (age group 17-18) and competed for medals against opponents from Hong Kong (China), Macau (China), Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan (China).

The young female athlete made efforts to finish first with a time of 1 minute 10 seconds 27, winning a gold medal. Athlete Wui Kiu Man (Hong Kong, China) won a silver medal with a time of 1 minute 10 seconds 74.

Adding a gold medal on July 20, Thuy Hien has won 3 individual gold medals so far at the tournament.

On the competition day, athlete Tran Van Nguyen Quoc won a gold medal in the men's 100m freestyle event (age group 17-18) with a time of 40 seconds 44.

As of the end of July 20, the Vietnamese swimming team has 12 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 6 bronze medals to temporarily rank third.

The number 1 position is currently the Chinese team (27 gold medals, 19 silver medals, 3 silver medals). Second place is the Japanese team (20 gold medals, 11 silver medals, 3 bronze medals).

The coaching staff of the Vietnamese swimming team said that the final events of the tournament will take place on July 21.

Vietnamese athletes will strive to win more medals on the last day of the tournament.

The 12 gold medals we have achieved so far all belong to individual events.
