The 2026 Badminton World Championships will take place in India from August 17 to August 23.
Recently, the Vietnam Badminton Federation received an official announcement that we have 8 players awarded slots to compete in the 2026 World Championships.
At the time of initial preliminary announcement, the BWF only said that Vietnamese badminton had 6 players receiving slots. Now, the number of athletes has been decided to be 8.
The list includes Nguyen Thuy Linh, Vu Thi Trang (women's singles), Nguyen Hai Dang, Le Duc Phat (men's singles), Nguyen Dinh Hoang, Tran Dinh Manh (men's doubles) Pham Thi Dieu Ly, Pham Thi Khanh (women's doubles).
Last year, the 2025 World Championship was held in France and Thuy Linh and Vu Thi Trang were representatives competing in the women's singles event. Also in this tournament, Hai Dang and Duc Phat also had a spot to compete in the men's singles.
The BWF considers the scores and rankings of players in the world rankings in its event, thereby determining the number of slots awarded to each member national federation.
In the near future, Nguyen Thuy Linh is expected to participate in the 2026 Chinese Open Badminton Tournament from July 21 to July 26.
She has just decided to withdraw from the 2026 US Open and 2026 Canada Open badminton tournaments to focus on the tournament in China.
