This is the first match in the June friendly series of the Thai team. The Golden Temple team did not use many key players, instead giving opportunities to many young faces and reserve players.
Against an opponent rated about 40 places lower in the FIFA rankings, Thailand soon controlled the game. However, the home team played disjointedly and did not create many dangerous situations for most of the first half.
The first notable opportunity came in the 15th minute, but Seksan could not beat goalkeeper Al Rashidi in a narrow-angle finish. On the other side, Kuwait mainly played defensive counter-attack and began to create pressure with high ball situations at the end of the half.
It seemed that the first half would end without a goal, but Thailand suddenly accelerated in the final minutes. In the 42nd minute, Kuwait's defense failed to trap offside, creating conditions for Seksan to break through and score the opening goal for the home team.
In the third minute of injury time, Kritsada unleashed an accurate rebound shot after the ball bounced out from the second line, helping Thailand lead 2-0 after the first 45 minutes.
However, this advantage was not maintained by the Golden Temple team in the second half. Kuwait pushed up the squad and quickly got a goal to narrow the score in the 48th minute after Majed's close-range header from a cross from the wing.
The away team continued to play excitedly and created many dangerous opportunities. In the 61st minute, Nasser's free kick hit the post of the Thai goal. In the 69th minute, Eid Al Rashidi took advantage of goalkeeper Pitiwat's indecisive save to score the equalizer 2-2 for Kuwait.
In the remaining time, Thailand tried to regain the game but did not create much breakthrough after a series of personnel changes. The most notable opportunity came in the 89th minute when Jude Soonsup-Bell's shot could not beat the Kuwait goalkeeper.
In the end, Thailand drew 2-2 with Kuwait in the first friendly match of June. According to the plan, coach Masatada Ishii's team will continue to meet China on June 9.
