The organizing committee of the host country Vietnam is developing a plan to organize the 2026 Southeast Asian pencak silat Championship.
It is expected that the tournament will attract a large number of martial artists from the region to participate from September 22 to September 29.
In charge of pencak silat (Department of Physical Education and Sports of Vietnam) - Ms. Tu Thi Le Na - said that the professional program of the tournament has been and is being built, through which the martial artists will compete in regulations.
According to the plan, the Organizing Committee will organize 8 performance contents (4 for men and 4 for women).
There are 13 combat events for men, including 11 main weight classes and 2 open weight classes (Open 1, Open 2). The Open 1 men's open event will be for athletes from 95kg to under 100kg. The Open 2 men's open event is for over 100kg.
The women's sparring program has 11 weight classes (9 official events, 2 open events).
The Open 1 women's open event will be for the weight class from 85 to 100kg, the Open 2 event is for athletes over 100kg.
Previously in July this year, Vietnam was the host of the 2026 Asian Championship.
The tournament took place in Dong Nai city. In this tournament, the Vietnamese pencak silat athlete won 16 gold medals and ranked first overall.
The goal of the Vietnamese pencak silat team is to achieve the best results at the 2026 Southeast Asian Championships.
It is expected that the players who won gold medals at the 2026 Asian Championship will continue to participate in the 2026 Southeast Asian Championship.
