The 2025 Southeast Asian Championship held in Thailand is considered by the Pencak silat Southeast Asian Federation as a tournament before the 33rd SEA Games.
The finals were held on the evening of October 14. At the end of the tournament, the Vietnam Pencak Silat Team won 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 4 bronze medals to rank 2nd overall.
Athletes Nguyen Duc Hau (45kg men), Nguyen Chinh Nghia (60kg men) and Vo Thanh Hieu (65kg men) were the gold medalists. The silver medal results went to athletes Vo Thien Hai (80kg men's), Cao Van Quy (90kg men's) and Nguyen Thi My Dung (Tunggal - women's individual performance). The bronze medal results were awarded to athletes Nguyen Thi Diem Quynh (55kg women), Nguyen Thi Hao (60kg women), Huynh Tan Tai (70kg men) and Dinh Tien Cuu (75kg men).
The coaching staff of the Vietnam Pencak Silat team said that the host team Thailand ranked No. 1 thanks to a record of 5 gold medals. The third place in this year's tournament is the Malaysian team.
At the tournament, the Vietnamese pecak silat team had 14 fighters including Diem Quynh, Duc Hau, Quang Hieu, Chinh Nghia, Tan Tai, Tien Cuu, Thien Hai, Van Quy, Hai Tien, Huy Hoang, Manh Hung, Thanh Hieu, Nguyen Thi Thao, My Dung. Currently, the Vietnam Pencak Silat Team is preparing for the 33rd SEA Games to take place in Thailand in December, so athletes competing in the Southeast Asian tournament have more opportunities to accumulate expertise. It is expected that the venue for the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship will be the pencak silat competition of the 33rd SEA Games.
The 13 events of pencak silat at the 33rd SEA Games include 10 balance races (8 for men, 2 for women) and 3 performance events.
