On the afternoon of December 12, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) held a draw ceremony for the round of 16 of the AFC Champions League Two 2024-2025.
This event attracted special attention from Vietnamese football fans as the only Vietnamese team participating in this arena was Nam Dinh Green Steel.
According to the draw results, Nam Dinh will face Sanfrecce Hiroshima (Japan), the excellent team that topped Group E in the group stage. This is considered an extremely difficult challenge for coach Vu Hong Viet and his team.
Sanfrecce Hiroshima has been in outstanding form throughout the group stage, remaining unbeaten, winning 5 and drawing 1, scoring 14 goals and conceding just 5. They also have a strong and experienced squad. Sanfrecce Hiroshima is also ranked 2nd in the 2024 J.League, behind only Vissel Kobe.
In addition to the match between Nam Dinh and Sanfrecce Hiroshima, the remaining matches of the 1/8 round of the AFC Champions League Two 2024-2025 East Asia region have also been determined. The remaining notable matches of this first round include Muangthong United vs Lion City Sailors, Port FC vs Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and Bangkok United vs Sydney FC.
