Assessments and forecasts
According to preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Plant Association (VPSA), in the first 15 days of May 2026, Vietnam's pepper exports reached 10,830 tons, with a turnover of 70.9 million USD, down 25.4% in volume and 22.5% in value compared to the first 15 days of April 2026, while slightly increasing by 2.2% in volume but down 5% in value compared to the same period in 2025. In which, black pepper reached 9,405 tons, white pepper reached 1,425 tons.
Asia continues to be the largest market with 5,452 tons, accounting for 50.3% market share but down 24.6%. America reached 2,377 tons, down 31.1%; the US alone reached 2,040 tons, down 36.3% but is still the largest export market for Vietnamese pepper.
The driving force for the market to maintain its upward momentum for 2 consecutive days mainly stems from the supply-demand mismatch, as global supply is increasingly tightened in the context of strong recovery in consumption demand in major countries.
