In the afternoon of May 14, at the Government Headquarters, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau chaired a meeting on the situation and results of implementing the task of building inter-level boarding primary and secondary schools in border communes.
Standing Deputy Minister of Education and Training (MOET) Pham Ngoc Thuong said that as of May 12, out of a total of 108 schools that have started construction: 1 school has been inaugurated and put into use; 25 schools in the list of 100 schools have completed the rough construction and are completing construction; 50 schools are moving towards completing the rough construction; 2 schools are leveling the ground; 15 schools are focusing on constructing the foundation.
Some localities committed to striving for 21 schools to be completed before June 30, 2026.
However, currently 5 localities are behind schedule and a few schools are facing difficulties due to complex geological locations.

After listening to the report and opinions of the delegates attending the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Education and Training to urgently review the entire progress of each school and clearly classify: Schools that ensure progress; schools at risk of delay; schools that are behind schedule.
From there, clearly identify the causes, responsibilities, and handling solutions for each project and each locality; establish a mechanism to monitor, operate, urge, and control progress weekly and monthly.
Regarding funding, the Deputy Prime Minister proposed to closely review the total investment level and capital needs of each project; clarify the reasons for capital increase; minimize items that are not really necessary; ensure practical and effective investment, suitable to actual needs, avoid formality and waste.
The Ministry of Construction completes the draft Official Dispatch of the Prime Minister on accelerating the construction progress of inter-level boarding schools in land border communes. In which, it clearly states localities that are behind schedule, localities at risk of being behind schedule; requesting Party Secretaries and Chairmen of People's Committees of localities to directly direct and be responsible.
Ministries of National Defense, Public Security, Finance, Agriculture and Environment, Construction, Ethnic Minorities and Religions and 22 localities with land border communes shall send representatives of leaders to participate in the Steering Committee for building schools for border communes, and send them to the Ministry of Education and Training before May 17.
On that basis, the Ministry of Education and Training will summarize and complete the draft Decision to consolidate the Steering Committee, and submit it to the Prime Minister before May 18.
The Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security direct and mobilize functional units under the sector to support localities in implementing the "campaign".
For localities, the Deputy Prime Minister reminded Party Secretaries and Chairmen of People's Committees of localities to directly direct and be fully responsible to the Government and the Prime Minister for the progress, quality, total investment, and efficiency of project use; urgently review each project; proactively plan to compensate for progress; mobilize maximum local resources; launch peak emulation drives; ensure the completion of the set goals.
For localities that are behind schedule, the Ministry of Education and Training will summarize and report specifically on the responsibility of the heads. In case of lack of decisiveness, to affect the overall progress, it is necessary to review and seriously handle responsibility.
