On March 9, according to the Ministry of National Defense's Information Portal, the Ministry of National Defense received a petition from voters in Lam Dong province transferred by the National Assembly's Committee for Petitions and Supervision according to Official Dispatch No. 2517/UBDNGS15, with the content: "Voters propose to consider supporting increased regular allowances for veterans because currently most veterans after participating in contributing to the country and returning to normal life face many difficulties in life, sickness due to war sequelae".
Regarding this content, the Ministry of National Defense said that in recent years, along with the socio-economic development of the country, our Party and State have paid attention to promulgating many regimes and preferential policies for people participating in the resistance war, war to protect the Fatherland and perform international duties, specifically reflected in the Prime Minister's decisions such as: Decision No. 290/2005/QD-TTg dated November 8, 2005; Decision No. 142/2008/QD-TTg dated October 27, 2008; Decision No. 62/2011/QD-TTg dated November 9, 2011.
The regulation of the level of monthly allowance support or one-time allowance according to the above decisions has been carefully studied by ministries and sectors, reported to the Party Committee of the Government, and submitted to the Politburo for policy approval; the Prime Minister issued a decision to implement regimes and policies; in accordance with the socio-economic conditions of the country and the ability to ensure the state budget; and at the same time balanced generally with the promulgated regimes and policies.
On the other hand, to ensure social security, on June 29, 2024, at the 7th Session, the 15th National Assembly passed the 2024 Law on Social Insurance, effective from July 1, 2025.
Accordingly, the subjects and conditions for enjoying social pension benefits guaranteed by the State budget have been added; in which, cases belonging to poor households, near-poor households aged 70 to under 75 years old and cases aged 75 years or older if they do not have a pension or monthly social insurance allowance are entitled to social pension allowances according to the Government's regulations.
