A brilliant milestone of the era
The August Revolution in the autumn of 1945 was successful, creating a great turning point for the Vietnamese people, bringing our people from being enslaved to becoming masters of the country, masters of society, and masters of their own economy.
The victory of the August Revolution is a victory of the strength of the great national unity, the passionate patriotic tradition, bravery, wisdom, and resilient will of the Vietnamese people are inherited and promoted to a new height.
This is the victory of the correct revolutionary line, the wise and talented leadership of our Party and President Ho Chi Minh with a strategic and sensitive vision in creating opportunities and seizing opportunities "once in a thousand years"; it is the result of the combination of national strength with the strength of the era.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel, Dr. Phan Van Luong (Department of Propaganda and Training, General Department of Politics) analyzed that this is an event of contemporary stature, of profound international significance, a great source of encouragement and motivation for ethnic minorities, people oppressed and exploited in the world to rise up to fight for ethnic independence, democracy and social progress.
With the success of the August Revolution, on September 2, 1945, at the historic Ba Dinh Square, on behalf of the Provisional Government, President Ho Chi Minh solemnly read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the first people's democratic state in Southeast Asia, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
This is a momentous historical event, marking a glorious milestone in the development process of the nation. This is not only the first independent day after nearly a century of the country being invaded, but also opens a new era of national history development - the Ho Chi Minh era, the era of national independence associated with socialism.
From here, the Vietnamese ethnic group mastered its revolution under a progressive, democratic state regime, with a working-class nature, representing the aspiration for independence, freedom and happiness of the entire nation.
Realizing the people's right to mastery
According to Dr. Nguyen Van Phuong (Army Officer School 2), the victory of the August Revolution in 1945 led to the birth of a new type of state - the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) - a true state of the people, by the people and for the people established on the territory of Vietnam, marking a qualitative leap forward, a great revolution in the history of Vietnamese ethnicity.
This is a new type of state model, in line with the development trend of history and the ideals of the Vietnamese revolution led by the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Immediately after seizing power, the Provisional Revolutionary Government took decisive steps, clearly showing the nature of a people's democratic state. In which, the new type of State has implemented many measures to fight against hunger and illiteracy.
In particular, the organization of General Elections nationwide on January 6, 1946 to elect the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels to consolidate the people's democratic government and build the foundation of the new regime.
The organization of the General Election to elect the 1st National Assembly on January 6, 1946 has realized the people's right to mastery in political life. For the first time in the nation's history, the Vietnamese people from slave status have become citizens of an independent country, directly holding their ballots to choose their representatives.
If fighting hunger is to protect life, fighting illiteracy is to improve people's knowledge, then the General Election is to establish the political position of the People in the new regime. This is an important step in establishing the people's right to mastery, mastery of society and mastery of their lives from a new type of State" - Dr. Nguyen Van Phuong shared.
