On July 22, the Central working delegation led by Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission had a working session with the Standing Committee of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee on the results of implementing political tasks in the area.
According to the report, after the merger, An Giang has an area of over 9,888 km2, converging all the factors of "sea - border - inland", with great potential for high-tech agriculture, marine economy, border economy, logistics and smart cities. The province has a population of nearly 5 million people, leading the Mekong Delta; is a province with a particularly important ge strategic location, with a coastline of more than 200 km, a border of nearly 148 km bordering the Kingdom of Cambodia.
The province has registered to submit to the Politburo for comments on draft documents and personnel plans for the Provincial Party Congress from August 25 to August 30, 2025 and the time to organize the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term from September 25 to October 5, 2025.

Discussing with the province on implementing a number of economic and social development tasks in the coming time, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that the Standing Committee of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee focus on leading and directing the implementation of the 2-level local government model. Resolutely complete the arrangement of staff, facilities, means, funding, transmission lines, data, information infrastructure, etc., ensuring the new apparatus operates smoothly and effectively, without delays or lack of work with the consistent goal of better serving people and businesses.
Do a good job of political and ideological education, promptly and fully resolve the regimes and policies for cadres, party members, civil servants, and workers who quit their jobs and retire early due to the arrangement according to the Central Government's instructions, creating consensus and support from the people for streamlining the organization of the apparatus and operating local administrative units at 2 levels.
Remove bottlenecks in business environment, planning, infrastructure, capital sources, digital transformation and human resource quality. Focus on effectively implementing administrative reform, decentralization, delegation of authority, digitalization of procedures, reducing time and costs for people and businesses, creating motivation to promote dynamic development of economic sectors, especially the private sector and the digital economy.
The Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission suggested that An Giang province focus on leading, directing the preparation and organization of Party congresses at all levels and the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term. Update the 4 "four pillar ministries" resolutions of the Politburo and the guiding orientations of General Secretary To Lam at the working session with the province to include in the Draft Political Report.
Regarding the 2027 APEC Conference in Phu Quoc, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that this is a high-level foreign event of special significance not only for An Giang province, but also for the entire Mekong Delta region and the whole country. This is a rare opportunity to promote the image of Vietnam as an integrator, innovator, friendly and dynamic country to the world, creating strong motivation and development leverage for Phu Quoc in particular and An Giang province in general, promoting investment, tourism, trade and infrastructure in the whole region. Therefore, the province needs to focus on preparing for the APEC Conference, ensuring progress, quality and absolute safety in all aspects. Special attention is paid to accelerating the implementation of key infrastructure projects.

At the meeting, the leaders of An Giang province proposed to the working delegation to request the Central Government, ministries and branches to continue to improve the legal system according to the 2-level local government model in all sectors and fields to create a favorable legal corridor and provide guidance for localities to implement.
Continue to expand visa exemption for international tourists to Vietnam, creating opportunities for An Giang to attract and share international visitors through international airports across the country (for direct flights to Phu Quoc). The Government will soon have a policy to invest in power grids and fiber optic infrastructure in Tho Chau special zone, Nam Du island (belonging to Kien Hai special zone), to serve the island's people in socio-economic development as well as contribute to ensuring national defense and security.
