On February 26, the National Election Council held a national online conference to deploy the election of National Assembly deputies (NA deputies) of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term.
At the conference, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Home Affairs Do Thanh Binh said that the Government and the Prime Minister have promptly led and directed the development and promulgation according to their authority, fully submitted and promulgated documents, creating a legal basis for the implementation of election work nationwide; submitted to the National Assembly Standing Committee for promulgation 3 Resolutions and promulgated Resolution No. 408/NQ-CP on the Government's Plan for deploying election work and Directive 28/CT-CP of the Government on organizing the election of National Assembly Deputies of the XVI term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term.
Accordingly, the tasks, progress, and responsibilities of each ministry, sector, and locality have been clearly defined, ensuring the entire direction of the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the plan of the National Election Council.
The direction and administration work is proactively implemented closely following the time milestones prescribed by law. Strengthen monitoring and inspection of election work, promptly handle arising issues related to organizational structure, personnel, funds, facilities, security and order, and application of information technology, digital transformation in election work.
Regarding election propaganda, the Minister clearly stated that the Government and the Prime Minister have directed the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to issue documents guiding the content and forms of propaganda and direct press agencies to promote propaganda on the purpose and meaning of the election; disseminate the content of the Law on Election of National Assembly Deputies and People's Councils, and guiding documents for implementation. Local press agencies have proactively and actively propagated, ensuring timeliness and correct orientation.
Regarding some key tasks from now until election day, Minister Do Thanh Binh clearly stated that it is necessary to continue to strengthen leadership, direction, review and strictly control the progress of tasks and work from now until election day; closely follow the National Election Council's Plan and legal timelines;
Review all remaining tasks, clearly assign responsibilities, clear progress, clear results; promote inspection and urging, absolutely not subjective or negligent, especially during the peak period from March 1, 2026 to the election day March 15, 2026.
Minister Do Thanh Binh clearly stated, complete the announcement and listing of the official list of candidates and organize election campaigns in accordance with regulations; list the official list of candidates no later than February 27, 2026;
Organize election campaigns from after announcing the official list of candidates until before 24:00 on March 14, 2026, ensuring democracy, publicity, equality, and compliance with the law.
Continue to review, update, and adjust the list of voters arriving before voting hours; pay attention to voters who are industrial park workers, students, the elderly, people with disabilities, ethnic minorities, and voters in special areas to ensure the full exercise of citizen rights.
Promote election propaganda, focus on applying information technology and digital platforms; focus on introducing biographies and action programs of candidates; mobilize voters to participate in voting fully and in accordance with regulations; proactively fight and refute false and distorted information.
