Raising the level of enjoyment of regimes and policies for militia and self-defense forces
Decree No. 16/2025/ND-CP dated February 4, 2025 of the Government amends and supplements regulations on social insurance regimes for standing militia.
In particular, Decree No. 16/2025/ND-CP amends Clause 1, Article 7 of Decree No. 72/2020/ND-CP regulating the allowance level for the position of militia and self-defense commander.
According to the new regulations, Commanders and Political Committees of Commune-level Military Commands; Commanders, Political Committees and Military Commands of agencies and organizations are entitled to an allowance of VND 561,600 (the old regulation was VND 357,600).
Deputy Commander, Deputy Political Commissar of the Commune-level Military Command; Deputy Commander, Deputy Political Commissar of the Military Command of agencies and organizations; Battalion Commander, Political Commissar of the Battalion; Squadron Commander, Political Commissar of the Squadron; Squadron Commander, Political Commissar of the Mobile Militia Company will receive an allowance of VND 514,800 (old regulation of VND 327,800).
Decree No. 16/2025/ND-CP takes effect from March 23, 2025.
visa exemption for citizens of 3 countries to travel to Vietnam
The Government issued Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP dated January 15, 2025 on visa exemption under the Tourism Development stimulus Program in 2025 for citizens of the following countries: Republic of Poland, Czech Republic and Federal Republic of Switzerland.
According to the Resolution, visa exemption for citizens of the following countries: Republic of Poland, Czech Republic, Federal Republic of Switzerland with a temporary residence period of 45 days from the date of entry for tourism purposes according to the program organized by Vietnamese international travel service businesses, regardless of passport type, on the basis of meeting the entry requirements according to the provisions of Vietnamese law.
The visa exemption policy when entering Vietnam for citizens of the above countries is implemented from March 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025 under the framework of the Tourism Development stimulus Program in 2025.
New organizational structure of ministries and branches
From March 1, ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and agencies under the Government will operate under a streamlined apparatus.
According to Resolution 176/2025 of the National Assembly, the organizational structure of the Government for the 15th National Assembly term includes 14 Ministries and 3 ministerial-level agencies.
14 Ministries include: Ministry of National Defense; Ministry of Public Security; Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Home Affairs; Ministry of Justice; Ministry of Industry and Trade; Ministry of Agriculture and Environment; Ministry of Construction; Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Ministry of Science and Technology; Ministry of Education and Training; Ministry of Health; Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions.
3 ministerial-level agencies include: State Bank of Vietnam; Government Inspectorate; Government Office.
The Government's decrees stipulating the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of ministries and branches after the restructuring and streamlining of the apparatus have been issued to take effect from March 1.
Not organizing district-level police
From March 1, local police will be rearranged to 2 levels, including provincial police and commune police, without organizing district-level police.
According to the Ministry of Public Security, 694 district-level police agencies nationwide have ended their operations since March 1.
In addition, from March 1, the Ministry of Public Security officially received a number of state management functions and tasks, including: State management of drug addiction treatment, post-drug addiction management; State management of criminal records and issuance of criminal records; State management of driving test and issuance of driving licenses; State management of network information security; State management of aviation security; received MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation.
