According to information from the National Assembly Office on the afternoon of September 22, the National Assembly Standing Committee met to consider and decide on the dismissal of Mr. Lai The Nguyen (from the National Assembly Delegation of Thanh Hoa province) and Mr. Tran Quoc Nam (from the National Assembly Delegation of Khanh Hoa province) from their duties as National Assembly delegates.
Accordingly, based on the Constitution, the Law on the Organization of the National Assembly and relevant legal provisions; based on the opinions of competent authorities; based on the submission of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly's Delegation Affairs Committee.
At the same time, consider Mr. Lai The Nguyen's application to cease his duties as a National Assembly delegate on September 18; Mr. Tran Quoc Nam's application to cease his duties as a National Assembly delegate on September 18.
The National Assembly Standing Committee discussed, secretly voted to approve and issue Resolution 1831 on the dismissal of Mr. Lai The Nguyen and Mr. Tran Quoc Nam from their duties as National Assembly delegates of the 15th tenure.
Mr. Lai The Nguyen (born in 1970), was the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council for the 2021-2026 term.
Mr. Nguyen has held the positions of Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office, Secretary of Ngoc Lac District Party Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of the 15th Provincial People's Assembly of Thanh Hoa.
On September 17, at the 33rd session of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Council, the Central Government informed the decision to allow Mr. Lai The Nguyen to retire early.
Mr. Tran Quoc Nam (born in 1971) has worked in Ninh Thuan (old) for more than 25 years. He was Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Committee, then Chairman of the Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee from 2020 and a delegate to the 15th National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Ninh Thuan province.
After merging Ninh Thuan and Khanh Hoa provinces, from July 1, 2025, Mr. Nam was appointed Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Khanh Hoa People's Committee.
On September 8, the leader of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee's Organizing Committee confirmed that Mr. Nam had submitted a resignation letter for "personal reasons".
