On the afternoon of September 24 (local time), Politburo member and President Luong Cuong and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, left New York City (USA), successfully concluding their working trip to attend the 80th United Nations General Assembly High-Level Discussion Session, combined with bilateral activities in the US, from September 21-24.
During the working trip, the President attended a high-level general meeting to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, with important speeches at the High-level General Assembly Discussion Session of the 80th United Nations General Assembly and the Special Global High-level evenings on Climate Action.
At the same time, the President had bilateral meetings and contacts with leaders of international organizations and countries attending the United Nations General Assembly's high-level week.
Attending the sessions, especially at the High-level General Assembly Discussion Session of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, the President delivered an important speech with the consistent message "Respect the value of peace, strong transformation to create a sustainable future", emphasizing that over the past 80 years, the United Nations has always been the embodiment of humanity's common aspiration for peace, cooperation and development, based on the universal values of human rights, national independence, equality, democracy and social progress.
Sharing the story of a Vietnamese country that has revived from the devastation of war and is rising up, striving to become a strong, prosperous and happy country, the President affirmed that Vietnam always strives its best and accompanies all countries to shoulder common responsibilities, overcome challenges, promote strong transformation to create a peaceful, stable, prosperous and sustainable world, bringing happiness and prosperity to all people.
Along with that, the President had a series of bilateral meetings with leaders of countries attending the United Nations General Assembly session such as United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres; President of the United Nations General Assembly Annalnio Baerbock; Prime Minister of Austria Christian Stocker; President of Paraguay Santiago Peña Palacios; President of Tajikistan Em Rahmon; Prime Minister of Bulgaria Rosenomali Zhelyazkov; President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa; President of Iraq Abdul Latifid; President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Putin...
The President also had meetings with US leaders, received leaders of major US corporations; met with long-time partners and top scholars; attended a meeting between Vietnamese-US veterans who participated in the war in Vietnam, met with officials and staff of Vietnamese representative agencies and representatives of the typical Vietnamese community; as well as chaired the 80th Anniversary of Vietnam National Day in New York.
The activities affirmed the policy of attaching more importance to further developing relations with the US, especially in the fields of economy, trade, investment, science and technology; promoting the implementation of agreements and commitments between the two countries' senior leaders.
The working trip of the President was a great success in both multilateral and bilateral aspects, leaving a good impression on Vietnam's role, position, and active and substantial contributions to solving global problems as well as promoting Vietnam-US relations and Vietnam-people relations to contribute to peace and development in the region and the world.
