On the morning of January 19 (December 20, the year of the Dragon), President Luong Cuong and his wife, along with overseas Vietnamese, performed an incense offering ceremony at Kinh Thien Palace in the Thang Long Imperial Citadel relic site and released fish in Uncle Ho's fish pond at the Presidential Palace.
The activity is part of the Homeland Spring 2025 program organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese.
President Luong Cuong and his wife and overseas Vietnamese performed respectful rituals of remembrance and offered incense at Kinh Thien Palace.
Kinh Thien Palace - the most important palace, from the 15th to 18th centuries, was the place where the most solemn ceremonies of the royal courts were held.
The incense offering ceremony here has become one of the traditional activities of the Homeland Spring program, a symbol of the affection and orientation towards the national origin of Vietnamese people around the world.
Next, President Luong Cuong and his wife presided over the traditional carp releasing ceremony to see off the Kitchen Gods at Uncle Ho's fish pond in the Presidential Palace.
Also on the morning of January 19, a delegation of overseas Vietnamese attending the Homeland Spring Program 2025 came to lay wreaths and visit President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum; and laid wreaths at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son Street, Hanoi.
These activities not only show gratitude to generations of ancestors who have devoted themselves to the country but also arouse national pride and the spirit of returning to the roots in every Vietnamese child.
On the evening of January 20, President Luong Cuong will deliver a New Year's greeting to all overseas Vietnamese and beat the drum to open the spring festival in the Spring Homeland art exchange program with the theme: "Vietnam - Rising up in the new era".
The program is scheduled to take place at the National Convention Center, with the participation of domestic and overseas artists, and nearly 1,500 overseas Vietnamese delegates, relatives and domestic guests.
