On June 25, after listening to the submission of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the National Assembly voted to pass the Resolution on the establishment of the National Election Council with 425/426 delegates in favor.
The National Election Council consists of 19 members.
Accordingly, the Chairman of the National Election Council is the Chairman of the National Assembly. The Standing Vice Chairman of the Council is a Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and the head of the personnel subcommittee.
The Vice Chairmen of the Council include: A Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and Vice President.
The members include: Head of the Central Organizing Committee, Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee, Minister of National Defense, Minister of Public Security, a Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and Head of the Subcommittee on Legal Documents and Complaints and denunciations, a Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and Head of the Subcommittee on Information and Propaganda, a Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and Head of the Subcommittee on Ensuring security, order and social safety.
The members include: Minister of Home Affairs; Chairman of the Delegation Work Committee; General Secretary, Head of the National Assembly Office and Chief of the Office of the National Election Council; Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council, Chairman of the Vietnam Women's Union, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
The National Election Council is an agency established by the National Assembly, with the task of organizing the election of National Assembly deputies; directing and guiding the election of People's Council deputies at all levels.
The National Election Council has a working apparatus prescribed by the National Assembly Standing Committee, a working location at the National Assembly House, a seal, and operating expenses guaranteed by the State budget; has the right to congratulate cadres and civil servants of State agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations to work for the Council.
The Council ends its term after submitting to the new National Assembly a summary report on the national election and the results of the confirmation of the status of National Assembly delegate according to regulations.
