Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that this is the first class of young people of the City after the merger to enlist, representing the youth of a special city, representing the spirit of solidarity, convergence and development, for the aspiration to rise up of the city named after Uncle Ho.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc also requested leaders and commanders of receiving units to continue to pay attention to education, training, and create the best conditions for young soldiers to develop comprehensively, becoming "both red and professional" soldiers.
On behalf of the young people enlisting, new recruit Pham Truc Tra Son expressed his deep awareness that enlistment is both an honor, a responsibility, and a right of each young person.
The representative of the new recruit affirmed that he will promote the heroic tradition of Ho Chi Minh City with the motto "go anywhere, do anything when the Fatherland needs"; not afraid of hardship, not afraid of difficulty, well implementing Uncle Ho's teachings: "Where youth is needed, youth is there, whatever is difficult, youth is there".
Regarding the general target for 2026, the Government assigned Ho Chi Minh City to select 9,105 citizens. Specifically, military service is performed by 7,300 citizens and police service is performed by 1,805 citizens (including 1,800 men and 5 women). This force is handed over to 36 focal units directly under the Ministry of National Defense and Military Region 7.
Specifically for forces participating in military service, the total number of conscription decisions awarded is 7,665. Of which, the official order is 7,300 citizens, the reserve force is 365 (accounting for 5% of the target), ensuring compliance with current regulations.
With the spirit of "recruiting whoever is secure", this year the city continues to set the goal of improving the quality of comprehensive military recruitment. The outstanding new recruits of Ho Chi Minh City will continue to contribute to building the People's Army and the Vietnam People's Police "revolutionary, regular, elite, modern", firmly protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
